Job Description
We’re looking for a Red Seal Machinist with CNC and manual experience to come join our busy and growing machine facility in the Fraser Valley.
- You’ll bring to the table a minimum of 3 years of experience working in manufacturing (metal manufacturing), be able to set up and operate complex machines (both CNC and manual) and perform machining and other operations as required.
- Rotating schedule between day shift and afternoon shift switching every 2 weeks.
- Working 4, 10 hour shifts on the afternoon swing.
- Compensation ranges from $30-$40/ hour based on experience and qualifications. Full Benefits including bonuses (bonuses based on length of employment and other metrics).
- Tools and PPE are provided as well.
- Clean and tidy facility with some amenities on site.

Required Qualifications
- Red Seal Machinist ticketed preferred
- Thorough understanding of machine operation and how to set up the machines
- Knowledge and ability to work with both CNC and manual machines
- Metal fabrication experience
- Read and understand blueprints and other drawings
- Be physically capable of lifting at least 50lbs
- Legally entitled to work in Canada.
Duties of A Machinist.
1. Setting up Machines
- Setting up and calibrating machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, grinders, and CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machines.
- Reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, or technical drawings to understand the specifications for the part to be machined.
2. Operating Machine Tools
- Operating machines to perform tasks such as cutting, shaping, drilling, and grinding metal components to precise dimensions.
- Monitoring machine operations to ensure that parts meet the required tolerances and quality standards.
3. Precision Measurement
- Using precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, gauges) to verify the accuracy of machined parts.
- Adjusting machine settings and tools as needed to maintain precision and meet specifications.
4. Maintenance and Troubleshooting
- Performing routine maintenance on machine tools to ensure optimal performance and prevent breakdowns.
- Troubleshooting equipment and machinery issues and making necessary repairs or adjustments.
5. Material Selection and Handling
- Selecting appropriate materials (metals, plastics, etc.) based on job requirements and machining properties.
- Preparing raw materials by cutting or shaping them to the correct size before machining.
6. Programming CNC Machines
- Programming CNC machines to automate tasks and improve efficiency, often using specialized software to input machine commands.
- Modifying or optimizing CNC programs as needed to improve machining processes and output.
7. Quality Control
- Inspecting and testing finished products to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications.
- Making adjustments to machine settings or part designs when defects or imperfections are found.
8. Tool Maintenance
- Maintaining and sharpening cutting tools, ensuring they remain in good condition to produce accurate parts.
- Replacing worn or damaged tools as needed to ensure precision.
9. Collaboration and Communication
- Working closely with engineers, designers, and other tradespeople to improve processes, solve production issues, and meet project requirements.
- Communicating progress and challenges to supervisors or team leads.
