Eligibility Condition for a Japanese Diplomatic Visa.
The Japanese government has 68 countries whose citizens can visit her without a visa. However, the list of these countries and their visa exemption type is available on the Japanese website. Again citizens of other countries who are not on the exemption list will have to apply for the Visa via the Japanese embassies in their own countries.

- Visit the Consular Section during the application drop-off hours (no appointment required). Please check our holidays before visiting. The Embassy will NOT accept any applications by mail.
- Pick up your visa any day after the indicated pick-up day.
Requirement For A Japan Diplomatic Visa
Applicant having satisfied the eligibility conditions listed above will be required to submit the following document as they make their application.
- Visa Application Form: The form must be filled by the applicant and duly signed the authority does not accept a digital signature.
- Valid Passport (Diplomatic, Official or Laissez-Passer) with at least 1.5 blank pages left
- One 2”x 2” Photo Must be taken in front of a plain background and within the past 6 months Do NOT use filters Passport type photo only (We do not accept photos on regular printer paper)
- Official Letter from the applicant’s government, department, agency or organization sending the applicant on official travel/assignment. Please make sure the official letter includes the information listed below:
FOR SHORT-TERM DIPLOMATIC/OFFICIAL TRIP

- Applicant’s Full name and passport number
- The applicant’s current title and position
- The purpose of the travel/assignment
- The assigned place and duration (this must match the arrival date and location listed on the VISA Application Form)
- The name of the visa office at the applicant’s agency, the contact person’s name, and the telephone number
- Signature from the applicant’s supervisor
FOR LONG-TERM ASSIGNMENT
- Applicant’s Full name and passport number
- The applicant’s diplomatic/official title: if you apply for a diplomat visa, please specify the diplomatic title/rank, not a functional or organizational title (e.g. First Secretary, Attaché).
- The name of the assigned organization and duration (this must match the arrival date and location listed on the VISA Application Form)
- Type of visa requested (Diplomatic/Official)
- The name of the visa office at the applicant’s agency, the contact person’s name, and telephone number
- Signature from the applicant’s supervisor
Validity of Japanese Diplomatic Visa
The validity of a Japanese diplomatic visa depends on the type of visa and the length of stay. For example, a single entry visa is valid for three months from the date of issue. A multiple-entry visa can be valid for 1, 3, 5, or 10 years.
