Job Description
- As the People Operations Manager, you will play a critical role in the overall functioning of the Nigeria Business Unit.
- You will report to the Vice President of People Operations (VP POps) and maintain a dotted reporting line to the Country Operations Manager (and the Country Director).
- You will also work hand in hand with team leads across the Business Unit.
- You will own various work streams and will be required to commit to keeping all balls rolling at the same time.
What You’ll Make Happen
Hiring, Onboarding and Offboarding:
- Liaise with teams, Business Unit (BU) management and the Support Business Unit People Operations team to develop the BU hiring plans;
- Drive the fulfillment of the approved NG BU Hiring Plan by completing hiring processes on schedule and on budget;
- Lead the onboarding experience for all new hires to ensure they are set for success;
- Constant improvement to our candidate experience, sharing feedback and learnings that will impact the process across the company;
- Ensure seamless transition of exiting employees out of the business through handover and exit interviews.
Admin:
- Manage the administrative side of onboarding including account creation, documentation, benefits admin, liaising with finance and payroll, drive access, data entry for HRIS, etc.
- Provide working tools such as laptops, tablets and other required equipment for new team mates.
Performance Management:
- Support the setting and rollout of KPIs;
- Support the performance review process;
- Take an active role in improvement plans and objectives that align to the BU KPIs and Roadmap.
Learning & Development:
- Liaise with managers and POPS to reduce skill gap in NGBU through L&D plans;
- Conduct Training Needs Analysis and continue to track training effectiveness;
- Own and track the BU L&D Budget;
- Support / Lead the roll out of company-wide or BU owned Learning Management Systems;
- Support development of team and individual learning and development plans.
Employee Experience & Culture:
- Drive culture with constant improvement aligned with Values and Mantras and POPs initiatives
- Support in obtaining 100% participation in employee surveys and feedback;
- Work with POPS on continuous improvement through the Employee Experience Action Plans.
HSE:
- Support initiatives, as required
- Serve on the NGBU HSE team.
Business and Statutory Compliance:
- Process Statutory Business Compliance Certificates – NSITF, ITF and PenCom – annually
- Liaise with Finance to ensure prompt remittances of all statutory deductions on a monthly basis;
- Maintain a relationship with relevant stakeholders across government bodies;
- Ensure Feedback to Employee on PAYE deductions and payment and provide guidance to employees (in conjunction with Finance) filing of Personal Income tax yearly;
- Provide end-to-end feedback to Statutory employee with regards to related deductions from Salary e.g. Registration and update on Pension and National Housing Fund contributions;
- Manage Employee HMO, Insurance and other statutory benefits.
Grievance & Disciplinary:
- Understand Nigeria employment law to ensure company compliance;
- Follow the Grievance Procedure and liaise with VP People Operations when any grievances arise;
- Notify VP People Operations of any potential disciplinary issues and support as needed.
POPS Technology:
- Serve as NGBU Champion for HRIS rollout, engagement & maintenance of POPS tools such as HRIS, ATS and Google Workspace products;
- Oversee regular maintenance and caretaking of working tools through utilizing 3rd party organization;
- Constantly be on the lookout for process improvement using technology to make our teams more efficient.
Administration, Policy Development, Management and Compliance:
- Oversee all office staff and ensure smooth running of the office;
- Support the development of policies and procedures as needed aligning with SBU and with local laws;
- Ensure compliance to the regulation and policy requirement of the organization’s standards across board;
- Use problem solving techniques to improve activities and communication across functions;
- Coordinate all Facility management for PowerGen Nigeria office and operational locations. Compiling work reports and ensuring payments to off-payroll workers;
- Support in the catch and kill of operational problems within internal SLA
- Support with Processing Travel documentation as required. This role will also be actively involved in proffering cost optimization initiatives for all PowerGen Journey management e.g. Accommodation, provision of Vehicles and Flight arrangements
- Liaise with legal and other external contractors as needed;
- Support in processing NDAs, MOUs, and other partnership agreements;
- Address office and operational Hub admin needs and employee requests
- Oversee and review all deliverables are aligned with the PowerGen brand.
Expatriates and Immigration:
- Lead all immigration processes – Quotas, Visas, etc. for employees / expatriates.
Team Management:
- Manage the BU People Operations and Administration team;
- Report team activities weekly, monthly and as required;
- Manage and track monthly and annual team budget;
- Be responsible for KPI setting and performance reviews of team members;
Team Support:
- Support all teams across the BUs for optimal performance of employees.
Qualifications
What You Already Have:
- Degree in Human Resources, any Social Science course or related discipline;
- At least 5 years experience in Human Resources;
- Excellent oral and written communication skills;
- Enthusiasm for people-centered projects and for business policy development;
- Human Resources Certification is a plus.
