  • We seek a Project Director in Abuja. The Solidarity Center is an international worker rights organization helping workers attain safe and healthy workplaces, dignity on the job, and greater equity at work and in their community. Position is contingent upon funding.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the preparation and submission of project deliverables/implementation, stakeholder and risk management processes, budget targets, and sustainability planning and implementation.
  • Oversee implementation of M&E systems from project initiation to closeout stages.
  • Build and maintain working relationships with all project stakeholders: engaging in coalition building and empowering stakeholders to take ownership of key project outcomes for post project sustainability of progress.
  • Conduct project activities, serve as one of the key Liaisons on the project, and write reports.
  • Develop coalition building contacts with union
  • leaders, government, community, and civil society organizations in Nigeria.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred and/or a minimum of seven (7) years of work experience.
  • Experience establishing and maintaining systems for managing project operations.
  • Excellent writing, grant and project management skills.
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of professional experience in project management and managing operational and administrative duties for USGfunded projects or other donor funded projects with similar complexity.
  • Strong facilitation, communication, collaboration, and leadership skills.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office is required.
  • Experience with USG or other donor-funded programs including program monitoring and evaluation, and budget tracking/projection.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct technical assistance and programmatic support in gender equality and women’s empowerment.
  • Support the development of tools, systems, processes, and approaches that integrate gender across programs. Train and mentor others in learning and understanding GBVH and gender equity and equality.
  • Ensure program results are delivered and indicators are tracked in a gender-responsive way. Advance gender equity, equality, and women’s economic empowerment in the world of work including all stakeholders such as union leaders, government, community, and civil society organizations in Nigeria.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred and/or a minimum of five years of work experience.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of professional experience working on gender-based violence and harassment (GBVH), gender equality, and women’s empowerment issues.
  • Experience establishing and maintaining systems to promote gender equity and equality. Strong writing, facilitation, communication, collaboration, and leadership skills.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office is required.
  • Willingness to travel to Nigerian states covered by the project.
  • Experience with USG or other donor-funded programs.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for Implementing M&E activities of international development projects.
  • Design, implement, and operate project M&E systems from project Initiation to closeout stages, including experience building and maintaining working relations with stakeholders.
  • Monitor and evaluate approaches for capacity building projects, and develop, implement, and refine data collection tools.
  • Provide support to the strategic planning and performance measurement, including indicator selection, target setting, reporting, and developing M&E and/or performance monitoring plans, as well as post-project sustainability plans.
  • Facilitate and serve as project liaison for externally managed evaluation or research initiatives.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred and/or a minimum of five (5) years of professional experience in a senior M&E position.
  • Experience establishing and maintaining systems for managing project operations.

Communications Specialist

Responsibilities

  • Conceptualize, develop, write, edit, ensure accuracy, and incorporate reviews of stories and information for the web site, outreach materials and other media and publications
  • Maximize social media channels for greater outreach
  • Coordinate development of materials
  • Research, select, commission (when necessary), and manage rights to use photos/videos and maintain a photo library
  • Assist with production of reports and other documents as needed
  • Work with program staff to develop flow of interesting information from the held to the SC headquarters and other vehicles for dissemination of information about the Nigeria programs.
  • Write articles, reports and do page layout and design for organizational brochures
  • Edit outgoing correspondence as requested. Select information from field reporting and synthesize website or publication for
  • Exercise quality control function to ensure that all outgoing documents are well written, free of errors, and presented in a professional manner.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, English, Journalism, Political Science, International Relations, Labor Relations or a related field and/or ten years of related work experience, Advanced word processing skills and basic spreadsheet and database skills.
  • Experienced in writing material for the web. Experienced in page layout and design
  • Photographic and/or video skills are a plus
  • Familiarity with graphic design, photo editing, and publishing software is a plus
  • Technical skills in Drupal and/or WordPress to oversee the Solidarity Center’s website Experience with social media (facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, YouTube, etc)
  • Excellent communications skills, including writing, editing all proofreading.
